Welcome to Casita La Luna: A Community Space for Healing, Hope, and Support
Grief is part of being human. But no one should have to carry the weight of it alone.
At Casita La Luna, we believe healing begins in community. Based in Chicago, Casita La Luna is a nonprofit organization offering free and compassionate support for families, children, and individuals navigating grief, loss, trauma, and major life transitions. Whether someone is mourning the loss of a loved one, adjusting to a life-changing experience, or simply searching for support during a difficult season, our mission is to create a space where people feel seen, cared for, and supported every step of the way.
A Chicago Nonprofit Rooted in Community Care
Founded in 2026 by Diana Morado, Casita La Luna was born from lived experience, resilience, and deep love for community.
After losing her daughter to a congenital heart defect, Diana experienced firsthand how grief can reshape every part of life. Through that journey, she also discovered the profound importance of support systems, connection, and compassionate care.
In honor of her daughter’s story and legacy, Diana created Casita La Luna as a welcoming community space for healing, hope, and resilience — a place where no family has to navigate grief alone.
As a proud first-generation Mexican American born and raised in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood, Diana’s roots in community care run deep. Her upbringing taught her the value of showing up for others, leading with empathy, and building spaces where people feel like family.
Today, those values remain at the heart of everything Casita La Luna does.
Our Programs & Support Services
Casita La Luna offers free programs, resources, and compassionate support designed to meet individuals and families where they are. Through grief support groups, participants can connect with others who understand the complexity of loss in a safe and welcoming environment. Our after school programming creates supportive space for children and families through tutoring, storytime, and community-centered activities, while our mental health and healing resources provide access to workshops, supportive events, and guidance for navigating grief and rebuilding over time. Every program is rooted in connection, care, and the belief that healing happens in community.
Our Values
Everything we do at Casita La Luna is guided by heart, intuition, resilience, and community. We lead with compassion and treat every person with dignity and care, recognizing that grief and loss take many different forms. We meet people where they are with empathy and understanding, honoring the strength it takes to move through difficult seasons of life. Above all, we believe healing happens through connection — by showing up for one another, listening deeply, and creating spaces where individuals and families feel supported, seen, and never alone.
A Place to Heal Together
At Casita La Luna, we imagine a world where every family has access to compassionate support during life’s most difficult moments.
Healing doesn’t happen overnight. But through community, care, and connection, we believe hope can grow again.
Whether you are looking for grief support, mental health resources, after school programs, or simply a place to begin, Casita La Luna is here for you.
We’re honored to welcome you into our community.
